In 2017, the film Etty was released. It is based on the theatre play of Dutch actress Margreet Blanken, who created this solo performance based on the diaries of Etty Hillesum (1914 – 1943). On the website of the Etty Hillesum Research Centre, the diaries are described as follows: “In the diaries, one can clearly see how the anti-Jewish measures increasingly impacted Etty Hillesum’s life, even though she had resolved to follow the line of her own spiritual development no matter what.”
I wrote the music for the film Etty, and I’m so proud to have been part of this project. I hadn’t mentioned this yet on my website, that’s why I publish this post now.
