Back in the winter of 2015/2016, I saw an ad on the internet from two filmmakers were looking for original music for their film project that used old black and white footage of the Dutch city of Rotterdam. I envisioned all sorts of music inspired on ragtimes (such as Scott Joplin, for example), and began to write something for guitar. After the filmmakers initially expressed their interest in my music, in the end, I never heard from them again. My music was never used for their project. I decided to use the tune I had written for a film about Zwolle, a city in the Netherlands where I used to live. In this blog, first the original guitar tune I wrote called “Back in the Day,” and then second the version for piano that I used in the historical 1924 film footage. Enjoy!
